Beholder was released for the PC in 2016 and is available to play on XBOX Game Pass. A Russian game, which depicts a dystopian, totalitarian world, where you play as a cog in the wheel, who can choose either to fight against the state or comply to save yourself and if you are lucky, your family too.

This game is ruthless and if you want to beat it you need to be able to make brutal decisions. Every action has a consequence and will change the result of the outcome.

The game begins with a cutscene which shifts between you and a man being beaten up by the police. You find out that you have orders to become the new landlord of an Apartment building and you are to arrive there immediately. As you arrive, the last landlord is dragged out in front of you and shoved into the back of a police car.

You and your family are to live in the basement and you quickly learn that the previous landlord didn’t fulfil his duties properly and you must do a better job of spying on your tenants, it is your job to know everything about them and report on what you discover to the state.
