A Game Pass Review: The Little Acre

The Little Acre was delightful to play. I grew up with Commodore 64 and Amiga games and particularly gravitated towards point and click games like Monkey Island, Lure of the Temptress and The Adventures of Willy Beamish.

I always wish for more games like those so when I saw this come up on Game Pass, I knew I had to give it a go. I wasn’t disappointed.

Before I start getting into the nitty-gritty, I just want to take a moment to point out that this game was entirely hand-drawn. It can be completed in under two hours but the story is original, cute and absorbing.

The Little Acre is the first game made by Pewter Games. It pays homage to the much-loved point and click games, the story they have created is both lovingly crafted and compelling. The characters are charming and I particularly liked the helpful pooch, Dougal. Along with its hand-drawn animations, the characters are all voice-acted. The music and sound effects are a great match for the game style and animation and the humour is lighthearted and at times a little silly.
